…basically in every way. Getting inspiration from all over the place, meeting new people, great artists and listeners. Made my first own track, the weather is beautiful… And I listen to music all day every day… And here’s some of the beats that made my summer so great. A big thank you to all the artists involved. Keep it chilled and sweet, just like your drinks in this hot weather.

I’ve never thought I would make beats of my own, but here we are… a couple of days ago I heard a song on a series I’m watching and the piano just stuck. I’m proud to present you my very first own track, titled A Man of Dreams. I’ve received very nice compliments on it but I know it could have been better. Nonetheless I took my first baby steps and the second track is in the works. Enjoy.

Here’s another great release. deeB is from the Netherlands and made his first solo debut with this freely downloadable EP, called Daydream. As you can see from the title of the post, I got sucked in by the atmosphere of the tracks and the way he uses different instruments is stunning. Don’t miss out on this one. By the way, I got this link from a friend who is making beats of his own, so I’ll link his work too. Can’t go wrong with a double post!

So, the beatmaker who showed me the link also does a beautiful job with sounds. A funky track Infiltrate made a little while ago got noticed pretty quickly so I’ll link the first version of it, and check his bandcamp for the 2nd (improved version) too.

2nd verision:

I got stuck somewhere around 1995-1999 so this release has brought back lots of memories. The beats, the samples and everything basically is so reminiscent of the 90s era that I just wanted more and more. I will say no more, you have to listen to it to feel it so put on your headphones and travel through time with Wally Pish Posh‘s  Fun For The Whole Family.  (Free download behind the artwork as always)

…is the title of my latest mix that got very nice compliments from my present heroes in music. I am very grateful for all the listeners and feedback, hopefully I can become even better. This mix is full of classic trip hop / abstract hip hop tracks and artists but you can also hear tunes from producers who quickly became favourites in my book even though I’ve only heard them first this year. The basic idea came when a friend of mine asked if I can recommend tracks or artists that sound like Dig This Vibe by Dj Krush. My first idea for him was Dj Cam‘s Mad Blunted Jazz and then mononome, The Blue Squares and off I went on one of the finest digging trips of my life so far. I had about 1100 tracks to check and you will certainly enjoy the 23 tracks that made it into the mix. Their atmosphere and chilled vibes will probably be a trip for you just like making the mix was for me. Feed your ears!

…I woke up and realized that the first EP of mononome was not enough. And I think all music addicts felt the same way. Now you can rest a bit easier as the sampling master dropped his second EP at Dusted Wax Kingdom, titled “The Secret Melody”. All the great favourites from his souncloud page are included. He keeps amazing us with dirty lo-fi sounds nobody else can create. Hope he will stay this way Forever… and will not be Wasted.

Dokkerman and The Trukeying Fellaz has just released their new album titled Mongoose. The album is heavily influenced by late sixties old school funk sounds and the 9 piece band gives you a very dusty, raw kind of funk that you can’t pass on. Whether you like slow funk , something bass heavy, or fast grooves, click on the picture and download the album for free! Big up Hungary! By the way, your favourite Hungarian netlabel, Budabeats is responsible for releasing the album for free.   NOTE: The soundcloud set is not the same as the free album behind the picture!

Members: Zimon Péter (drums), Michelberger Tamás (organ), Jenei Miklós (bass), Sághy Bálint (guitar), Bada Emőke (MC), Nagy Illés (percussion, MC), El Balogh Krisztián (percussion), Lior Paz (saxophone) és Tóth Bence (trumpet)

Here’s this guy whose name speaks well of himself. And here’s his 7-track Neckbreakers beat tape, which is also kind of a fitting title. He’s bringing beats to a level, where you can not stop nodding, probably will break your neck if you get addicted to this release. Have a listen and try not to break your neck so you can listen to more fine beats from The Expert in the future. Free download behind the pic, as always!

That’s how your world turns after you press play on a new 21-track release titled Basement Skylights from Anitek, Tab, A.U.R.C. and Hernan Faraci. The genre is all around the place which is really a compliment here… overchilled sounds, turntablism, dubbish vibes, trip hop tunes and hip hop beats can all be found among the meticulously created pieces. I can’t even choose a personal favourite, they are so good, so I will link the whole set instead. Free download available behind the picture as always. Make sure you check this one out, it would be a shame to miss it… or as the man Anitek himself put it “A MUST LISTEN abstract hiphop, experimental psychedelicness.”

A Perfect Evening

Ok, this might be unusal on the blog but I have to write about this experience we shared yesterday. We received a link from Shoto (from Dusted Wax Kingdom) saying that he will perform live in a club in Sofia. The club had a camera set up and live feed was available from 9pm EET, which was 8 pm my time.

So I tuned in and started commenting on the link on facebook whenever something great was spinning or Shoto made a comment. And then the evening really started… We had a couple of people from the DWK family in the Chat Room on facebook just listening to Shoto killin’ it in basically every genre possible from downtempo, trip hop through jazzy instrumental hip hop, all the way to swing and electro or golden age rap tracks.

We were all awed by the great choices and praised him in the chat room and commented on the link as he could only see facebook on his iphone. Meanwhile we (VPD, Jenova 7, Radina, Esbe, Impuls, Revolted Child) kept chatting about music, the industry, memories, influences and all things that came to mind… Shoto just kept amazing us with beats that we all loved and were inspired by. The atmosphere was so vivid we all agreed that it would only be better if we could all be in that club sipping drinks and patting Shoto on the back and cheering him on, telling him never to stop. He kept updating us with what a track was if we did not know them, gave a heads up if a great dedication was coming and we just felt we want the night never to end.

At about 2:30 pm which was 3:30 in Sofia, Shoto said he’ll spin 3 more “for the road” and he did… he finished with bugseed, Kero One and Pete Philly & Prequisite…

I just wanted to say thank you to all involved, especially Shoto for the awesome beats and the club for having the live feed available. Also for VPD for inviting me into the group on facebook a while ago. I met epic artists full of love and support. It was truly a terrific experience and I am grateful that I can live in a time when a guy from Russia, another one from the US and me from Hungary can listen and watch someone perform live in Sofia while sharing our thoughts on a common channel.

Some of the artists / tracks I remember Shoto playing just to give you a sense of what a great set it was :
GDaddie, bugseed, Nujabes, Flevans, Smoke City, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Badmarsh & Shri, Thievery Corporation, Waldeck, Flevans, KRS One, Skee-Lo and for me the highlight of the night was Jazzhole by Free the Robots.

All in all, it was one of the best experiences of my life and I wish I could just push repeat. I almost forgot… the feed usually records what’s on the camera, hopefully it did just that yesterday as well.

Here’s a little taste of how Shoto aka Stone Skipper rolls…
