…basically in every way. Getting inspiration from all over the place, meeting new people, great artists and listeners. Made my first own track, the weather is beautiful… And I listen to music all day every day… And here’s some of the beats that made my summer so great. A big thank you to all the artists involved. Keep it chilled and sweet, just like your drinks in this hot weather.

…is the title of my latest mix that got very nice compliments from my present heroes in music. I am very grateful for all the listeners and feedback, hopefully I can become even better. This mix is full of classic trip hop / abstract hip hop tracks and artists but you can also hear tunes from producers who quickly became favourites in my book even though I’ve only heard them first this year. The basic idea came when a friend of mine asked if I can recommend tracks or artists that sound like Dig This Vibe by Dj Krush. My first idea for him was Dj Cam‘s Mad Blunted Jazz and then mononome, The Blue Squares and off I went on one of the finest digging trips of my life so far. I had about 1100 tracks to check and you will certainly enjoy the 23 tracks that made it into the mix. Their atmosphere and chilled vibes will probably be a trip for you just like making the mix was for me. Feed your ears!

A Perfect Evening

Ok, this might be unusal on the blog but I have to write about this experience we shared yesterday. We received a link from Shoto (from Dusted Wax Kingdom) saying that he will perform live in a club in Sofia. The club had a camera set up and live feed was available from 9pm EET, which was 8 pm my time.

So I tuned in and started commenting on the link on facebook whenever something great was spinning or Shoto made a comment. And then the evening really started… We had a couple of people from the DWK family in the Chat Room on facebook just listening to Shoto killin’ it in basically every genre possible from downtempo, trip hop through jazzy instrumental hip hop, all the way to swing and electro or golden age rap tracks.

We were all awed by the great choices and praised him in the chat room and commented on the link as he could only see facebook on his iphone. Meanwhile we (VPD, Jenova 7, Radina, Esbe, Impuls, Revolted Child) kept chatting about music, the industry, memories, influences and all things that came to mind… Shoto just kept amazing us with beats that we all loved and were inspired by. The atmosphere was so vivid we all agreed that it would only be better if we could all be in that club sipping drinks and patting Shoto on the back and cheering him on, telling him never to stop. He kept updating us with what a track was if we did not know them, gave a heads up if a great dedication was coming and we just felt we want the night never to end.

At about 2:30 pm which was 3:30 in Sofia, Shoto said he’ll spin 3 more “for the road” and he did… he finished with bugseed, Kero One and Pete Philly & Prequisite…

I just wanted to say thank you to all involved, especially Shoto for the awesome beats and the club for having the live feed available. Also for VPD for inviting me into the group on facebook a while ago. I met epic artists full of love and support. It was truly a terrific experience and I am grateful that I can live in a time when a guy from Russia, another one from the US and me from Hungary can listen and watch someone perform live in Sofia while sharing our thoughts on a common channel.

Some of the artists / tracks I remember Shoto playing just to give you a sense of what a great set it was :
GDaddie, bugseed, Nujabes, Flevans, Smoke City, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Badmarsh & Shri, Thievery Corporation, Waldeck, Flevans, KRS One, Skee-Lo and for me the highlight of the night was Jazzhole by Free the Robots.

All in all, it was one of the best experiences of my life and I wish I could just push repeat. I almost forgot… the feed usually records what’s on the camera, hopefully it did just that yesterday as well.

Here’s a little taste of how Shoto aka Stone Skipper rolls…

This mix was made on one of my darker days, reminiscing about the past. Everybody has something that haunts them, so maybe these magnificently orchestrated masterpieces will tell you something just like they did to me. The mix includes tracks from such acclaimed groups as The Cinematic Orchestra and Hidden Orchestra, great producers like Amon Tobin, Long Arm, Kovacs, Coldcut or Skalpel.  Tune into the Dark Side of Jazz.

Third time’s the charm. So the last mix for today is my very own selection of Dusted Wax Kingdom‘s 051-100. It was very hard to choose from 506 tracks. Everything the netlabel publishes is golden, so had a rough time with choosing the right ones. Well, BPMs and keys helped a lot and I hope everybody will enjoy this little trip to the Kingdoms again. Spread the word, share the love and enjoy Dope Wax Knowledge!

Today is full of superb mixes. This one is from our dear friend, Mononome. He is going to perform live at Athens Video Art Festival, so before that he published an epic live set. He uses an MPC to create masterpieces sampled from old records only. Check out this mix to get to know of the most skilled sampler badboys of our time!

Japan in the House

One of the most esteemed producers of jazzy vibes from Japan, bugseed has just made a guest mix on TheFindMag. Upbeat stuff for positive people. This will surely make your day even better then it already has been. Lots of love to bugseed, keep on keepin’ on mister!

…and I bring you my advertisement for Dusted Wax Kingdom, as I’ve made a mix from the catalogue’s 001-050. The mix contains most of my favourite tracks from those EPs / LPs but of course some did not make it to the mix for different reasons. I’ll probably do a 51-100 soon, but till then get your ears wrapped around this one. Get Down With the Kingdom!

It was quite a while ago but for me it was a great day. Not because it’s the International Day of Work but because Dimitar, the founder of Dusted Wax Kingdom has asked me for one of my mixes to publish it as a podcast. I told him to choose any one he likes and I’ll be happy to provide it for download.

He chose ‘From Earth to Moon on the Crow’, which is partly made of tracks from producers at DWK. A great choice from VPD. As I have already written two articles about DWK, I’m not gonna praise them again, I’ll let my future mixes do that instad of me. I’m very happy that one of my favourite netlabels published my work and I get a really good vibe from the guys in the Kingdom. You can listen to the mix by clicking on the pic. Free download is available as well at Let the Crow guide you…

A választása a “From Earth to Moon on the Crow” nevezetű mixemre esett, aminek egy része épp a DWK berkeiből származó trackekből áll. Jó utazást a Varjún!

No this is not another version of 2 girls, 1 cup… It’s just that I’ve wanted to make a mix compiled from the tracks of Tosca for a while now. It was about 2000, when I first heard Suzuki, and it talked to me in a way no other album did before. So now I talked back with this mix. It contains tracks from Suzuki all the way to their last album, tried to get 2-3 tracks from every one of them. I tried to give the listener a full picture of what Richard Dofrmeister and Rupert Huber in the last 15 years (I excluded Opera as it is too lo-fi compared to other albums for me). I sent a link to the mix to the guys as well on facebook, but got no answer 🙂

És most én szólok vissza, ezzel a mixszel.
